KFC fakeaway

I always grew up eating 'Amish chicken'. I have since discovered the amount of butter and oil that recipe involved. I decided to create a recipe with less calories but that tasted just as good. This ended up being crispier than expected (in a good way). No frying was needed.

  1. Mix the chicken strips and buttermilk and leave to marinate for 2 hours.
  2. Preheat an oven to 200℃ (180℃ fan).
  3. Toast the breadcrumbs on the roasting tray for 3-4 minutes (until golden brown).
  4. Mix all of the dry spices together then stir in the toasted breadcrumbs.
  5. Take the chicken strips out of the buttermilk (one by one) and cover in breadcrumbs.
  6. Melt the butter in the roasting tray.
  7. Add the breadcrumbed chicken strips into the melted butter.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes (until crispy) then remove and enjoy.
