Ingredients
  • Cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsps sesame oil (I used olive oil)
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp hot chilli peppers seeds
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsps orange or lemon juice
  • 2 lbs beef or pork ribs of choice, or a large flank steak
Korean Style Rib Marinade

This will be your new favourite marinade. It's so versatile, and although it was meant for beef short ribs, I have used it on pork and even a flank steak.

  1. Combine the above ingredients in a container or ziploc bag and whisk.
  2. Add 2 packs of beef short ribs (about 1kg), sliced thinly and shake up the container.
  3. Let marinate for 6-8 hours or overnight, shaking occasionally. Alternately you can place the bag in the freezer and let defrost on the counter 4 hours before use.
  4. Preheat bbq and clean with a grill brush. Cook over medium low heat because the sugar in the marinade may cause flare ups. Turn often to avoid burning. (If using this marinade on a steak or pork ribs like I did this time, you need to cook longer.)
  5. Remove from heat and cover with aluminum foil for 10 minutes before enjoying to let the meat rest.
