Prawn Toast

Prawn Recipes

When we lived in London for many years, prawn toast was the one appetizer we used to get every single time we ordered a Chinese takeaway. It was only much later on I realized that it is relatively easy to make. Although fried in oil it is light and airy and is absolutely delicious. There is a fair chance after having this appetizer you may not want to move on to the main course! @sarchakra

Method

In a food processor add prawns, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, egg white, soy sauce, pepper and sugar. Make it into a finely minced paste.

Add the spring onions. Cover and chill in the fridge for 30 mins.

Take a heaped tablespoon of the prawn mixture and spread on one side of each bread slice.

Brush the beaten egg on top and sprinkle with sesame seeds. With your hands pat the sesame seeds on the slice.

Heat oil in a pan. Cook the bread slices one at a time till both sides are golden.

Drain on kitchen towels. Serve with sweet chili sauce.
