Ingredients
  • 1 flat iron steak
  • 2 tbsps chimichurri seasoning or your favorite steak seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsps olive oil
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 2 poblano peppers
  • 2 jalapeños
  • ½ Cup mayonaise
  • ¼ Cup bbq sauce
  • 1 loaf of ciabatta bread

Southwest Steak Sandwich

Put a spin on your typical steak sandwich with this easy southwest style recipe.

  1. start by mixing seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, olive oil and lemon juice in a bowl or pan. Add a splash of water if needed to thin it out.
  2. Marinate the flat iron steak for 2-12 hours in the mixture.
  3. Preheat your grill to 225 degrees F.
  4. Remove steak from marinade and pat dry.
  5. Place on grill and cook until 120 degrees for medium rare.
  6. While the steak grills toss the peppers lightly in oil and place on the grill to cook.
  7. Remove steak from the grill and turn the grill to high(leave the peppers in the grill)
  8. Sear the steak for 90 seconds a side.
  9. When the peppers are charred remove from grill and allow to cool slightly.
  10. Then peel and roughly chop them.
  11. While the steak is resting make the BBQ aioli. Mix the mayonnaise and bbq sauce together.
  12. After the steak has rested slice against the grain into thin slices for the sandwich.
  13. Slice the bread in half and spread the aioli over both sides.
  14. Cover one side of the bread with the pepper mixture.
  15. Add the Steak slices to the same half.
  16. Top with the other half of the bread and slice and serve.
