Soy Soaked Steak with Asian Green Beans

A quick and easy meal, perfect for a light lunch or you can bulk it up for a lovely healthy dinner!

Prep 10 minutes
Total 30 minutes
  1. Place the steaks in a wide bowl and pour over the soya sauce, toss to coat and set aside to marinade for 30mins.
  2. Begin by setting a saucepan of salted water on a high heat, when bubbling add in the green beans and cook for 5mins. Drain in a sieve and set aside.
  3. Mix all of the sauce ingredients together in a bowl and toss the beans through whilst they are still warm. Leave to rest whilst you cook the steaks.
  4. Set a skillet or frying pan on a medium heat, drain the excess soy off the steaks and rub with a little oil. Place the first steak into the hot pan and cook for 3mins (this is for rare, if you want it cooked through more, leave for an extra 5mins) flip over and add in 1 knob of butter along with the 2 of the garlic cloves and the Kicap Manis; cook for another 3mins constantly basting the steak as you go. When cooked to your liking, take out of the pan and set on a board to rest whilst you cook the next one.
  5. When both steaks are well rested, carve into slices and serve with the green beans, scatter the sesame seeds over everything and serve immediately.
  6. (You can bulk this up for a quick and healthy dinner with some jasmine rice and stir fried mushrooms too!).
