Ingredients
  • 6 Chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 300 ml Buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Cayenne
  • 1 tsp Garlic granules
  • 1 tsp Mustard powder
  • 1 tsp Onion salt
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper

Southern fried chicken

  1. Place chicken in a bowl and add the buttermilk plus salt and pepper. Mix and leave in the fridge for 4-6 hours this will help tenderize the chicken. 
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together until combined in a shallow dish. Remove your chicken from the fridge coat in dry spice mixture (For extra crispy coating dip back into the buttermilk and again in the seasonings)
  3. In a large deep pan or deep fryer heat oil to 175℃, cook for 12-15 minutes flipping half way. 
  4. Season your chicken immediately with salt when is comes out of the fryer. Serve and enjoy.
