Cut cod in thick pieces. Rub salt, pepper and all purpose flour on the fish.
Heat oil. Fry the fish in batches till golden on all sides. Remove and reserve.
Heat olive oil. Add the chopped garlic. Cook for a few seconds till aromatic.
Add the tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Add butter to the sauce. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 15 mins till the sauce thickens.
Add the fried fish into the sauce. Put in freshly chopped basil. Add the peas. Let the mixture come to a simmer. Turn the heat off.
Serve fish with spaghetti or linguine.
