  • 2 tsps Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Saffron

Uzbek “Plov”

''Plov'' is the most classic dish of Uzbekistan. Recipe varies from region to region, however the concept remains the same - rice and delicious stewed meat fragranced with most popular spices like Saffron, corriander, paprika and much more.


If you never tried this dish before I recommend you to try it and make your own mind!

1 Wash the rice in the cold water until the water is clear. Set aside, we will cook it last.

2 In the pre-heated pan add some olive oil, add some chopped meat of your choice, I used pork. Fry until golden brown , remove the meat and leave it in the separate plate for later.

3 In the clean pan add some olive oil, add chopped onions, sautee on medium heat for 5 -8 minutes.

4 Next add some grated carrots , sautee for another 5 minutes.

5 Add to the onion and carrot mix the meat you cooked earlier.

6 Add all the seasoning as per ingredients listed.

7 Add some boiled water, ensure it fully covers the meat and leave to cook for 30 minutes on a low heat.

8 After 30 minutes, add the rice on top, add little water if needed to cover the rice and leave to slow cook for another 40 minutes.

9 Serve with fresh chopped chilli and parsley!

10 Topped with some black olives!
