Apple Pie
Is there anything better than warm apple pie?
A beautiful classic fruit dessert, great served with custard, cream or ice cream.
- Peel and dice your apples
- Sprinkle with cinnamon, sea salt, cornflour and sugar and set aside
- For the pastry
- Cube your butter and add to flour, also add your lemon zest and sugar
- Work the butter into the flour with your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs
- Add in your egg and bring together with a round bladed knife until a dough forms
- Butter a pie dish and on a floured surface roll out half of your dough and use this to line the pie dish pushing the pastry gently into all the edges
- Fill with your apple mixture
- Roll out the remaining dough and use it to top the pie, decorate however you wish
- Finally brush the pie with a beaten egg
- I cooked this on my Trager bbq but you can also cook it the oven at 200℃ for around 45 mins or until golden
- Serve warm with custard, cream or ice cream
