  • 1 kg maris piper potatoes peeled and quartered
  • 120 ml oil
  • 1 Heaped teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • Small bunch fresh dill torn
  • 1 Green chilli sliced

Batata Harra Spicy Potatoes

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 180℃ / gas mark 4. Pour the oil into a roasting tin then sprinkle in the spices, stir well then pop this into the oven to heat up.
  2. Meanwhile, par boil the potatoes in boiling salted water for 8-10 minutes then drain, leave to steam in the colander for 5 minutes. Place the potatoes into the tray, coating with the spiced oil then season with salt and pepper, cook for 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn the potatoes, use the back of a spoon to crush them down, return to the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Before serving sprinkle over the dill and fresh green chilli.

  2. Meanwhile, par boil the potatoes in boiling salted water for 8-10 minutes then drain, leave to steam in the colander for 5 minutes. Place the potatoes into the tray, coating with the spiced oil then season with salt and pepper, cook for 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn the potatoes, use the back of a spoon to crush them down, return to the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Before serving sprinkle over the dill and fresh green chilli.
