Meatballs in tomato sauce

  1. Preheat the oven to 200’c
  2. In a bowl add the stale bread and cover with milk set aside while you prepare the meatballs.
  3. In a large bowl combine the mince, onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, parmesan and egg with a good pinch of salt and cracked black pepper.
  4. Squeeze the milk out the bread and add it to the meatballs.
  5. Mix everything together. Roll the meatballs into small balls the size of ping pong balls.
  6. Place the meatballs onto a pile lined baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned on the top.
  7. Start the sauce by heating the olive oil in a medium sized pan, add the garlic and onion and sauté on a medium heat until soft and translucent.
  8. Add the tinned tomatoes and fill one of the empty cans with water and add this to the sauce.
  9. Season with salt and pepper and oregano and allow to simmer on a medium heat for 20-25 minutes.
  10. Remove the meatballs from the oven and add to the sauce.
  11. Serve with your favourite pasta and lots of fresh grated Parmesan!
