Ingredients
  • 2 tins of spicy mixed beans
  • 2 small peppers
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • 2 tbsps bbq sauce
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1½ tbsps tracklements sweet mustard
  • ½ green or red chilli
Spices
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Spicy Barbeque Beans


  1. Finely dice the onions and peppers and soften in a little oil for about 5-10 minutes. Once this is done add the garlic and chilli and stir this out.
  2. Cook for a further 5 minutes carefully not letting the veg burn
  3. Add in the spices and stir this for about 2-3 minutes before adding in the vinegar
  4. Add in the mustard and stir then add in the beans and mix through.
  5. Cook on a medium heat for about 2-3 minutes before adding in the sugar and bbq sauce
  6. Pour into an ovenproof dish and cover, bake at 150-180 for about 20 minutes, then remove the lid, stir and bake for a further 15 minutes.
  7. When its done it may look a bit dry so add a bit of water and mix.
  8. Taste and season then serve with Jacket potato or rice
