Gobi 65

Gobi 65 is a South Indian Appetizer made by frying cauliflower in a spicy batter.

  1. Wash and cut ¾ of a cauliflower into florets.
  2. To make the batter, mix together, rice flour, corn starch, salt, Kashmiri chilli powder, black pepper, garam masala, turmeric, cumin powder, grated garlic cloves, grated ginger, oil and water.
  3. The batter should be runny but have a slightly thick consistency.
  4. Mix in the cauliflower and ensure each floret is coated in the batter.
  5. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. You can either deep fry, shallow fry or air fry the cauliflower.
  7. To shallow fry – add oil to a frying pan and over medium heat, fry the cauliflower. Gently toss or fold the florets for 10-15 minutes or until the desired amount of crispiness is attained.
  8. Add green thai chillies, curry leaves and black pepper. Toss gently and serve.
